White Bridle Humane Society is a 501(c) 3 tax-exempt, non-profit corporation that originally began as a horse rescue and racehorse placement organization with the intention of serving the community with horses that stayed with us.

In 2009, we launched an equine assisted recreational therapy program with our 8 miniature horses. The Autism Society provided scholarships to children with autism that year, and we began serving children with autism at The Las Colinas Equestrian Center.

In 2010, we partnered with Parks and Recreation in Grand Prairie and began working with autistic children in Grand Prairie and the surrounding cities.

Our program is beneficial for all children including neuro-typical children, but most of the children who participate in our program have austism.

One in every 110 children is on the autism spectrum. This is at epidemic levels. This is the segment of the population that is at greatest need, so we continue refining our program to meet the needs of autistic children.

Our program is very beneficial in addition to being fun and engaging. Our greatest successes have come working with nonverbal children. We attribute this to the benefits of cart driving as a way to initiate verbal activity in nonverbal children.
